» » Biohazard 3: Last Escape (1999)

Short summary

Two months after surviving the grisly disaster at the mansion lab, Jill Valentine resigns from S.T.A.R.S. and attempts to escape a nightmarish city in ruins. Trapped in a town crawling with hordes of flesh-eating zombies, hideous mutants, and a relentless new nemesis, she must rely on cunning and brute force to stay alive. What she soon discovers is that the evil created by Umbrella Corporation's bio-tech terror is even more horrifying then she ever imagined...

The Design for the Nemesis was originally a rejected design for the Tyrant 02 (better known to some fans as Mr. X) in Biohazard 2 (1998)

Producer Shinji Mikami was originally against calling this game "Biohazard/Resident Evil 3". He felt that Resident Evil: Code: Veronica (2000), which advanced the story more than this game did, was the "true part 3", and that Biohazard 3: Last Escape (1999) should be called "Biohazard 1.9" or "Biohazard 1.5". However, Capcom decided that since Biohazard 3: Last Escape (1999) had been specifically developed for the PlayStation (just like its predecessors Bio Hazard (1996) and Biohazard 2 (1998)), it should have a number in the title to maintain continuity. Since Resident Evil: Code: Veronica (2000) had originally been developed for the Sega Dreamcast, it was given a subtitle instead of a number to differentiate it from the main series (even though it was still part of it).

A poster for the movie "Biohazard 4" can be seen on the wall of the restaurant from the outside.

This is the first Resident Evil game to have two different kind of hunters; Beta and Gamma.

This is the only Resident Evil game to use the beta species of Hunters.

When you get to the St. Michael Clock Tower, and camera angle changes to show the clock tower, you can see that the time is 11:00 after the cable car crash.

Officially ending the Raccoon City storyline.

The time on the clock tower reads 11:00 when you first arrive and then when the rescue helicopter arrives, the clock reads 12:00. This means in the story, Jill spends an hour going through the clock tower. Gamers average time is about 10 - 15 minutes.

The fact that the first half of this game takes place before the events of Biohazard 2 (1998)], and the second half takes place afterwards, makes Resident Evil 3 both a prequel and a sequel at the same time.

This game takes place the same time as Resident Evil 2.

Regina from Dino Crisis (1999) (another Capcom game) is a secret costume.

The final Resident Evil for the Playstation 1.

Three main improvements to the gameplay; these are a 180 degree turn (the first two games required you to slowly spin your character around), no longer required to press a button to climb the stairs (Jill does it automatically ), and the ability to mix and create your own bullets.

First game to have the "Mercenaries" minigame.

Jill is the first Resident Evil character to appear in a fighting game (Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (2000)).

The first Resident Evil game to not give you an opportunity to choose a different character to play. The first one you could choose Jill or Chris. The second one gave you a choice of Leon or Claire. This one you can only play as Jill.

The GameCube port of this game came about when Nintendo signed a deal with Capcom to have exclusive rights for Biohazard 4 (2005). However, that game turned out so popular that Capcom re-negotiated the deal, so that they could release RE4 on the PlayStation 2 and PC as well. As part of the new deal, they created ports of Biohazard 2 (1998) and this game exclusively for the GameCube.

Contains the most unlockable costumes for a character to wear (9). The rest of the series usually have between 1 - 3 secret costumes.

During the events of this game, Chris Redfield is in Europe on his quest to bring down the evil Umbrella corporation.

Nemesis is a playable character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (2011).

According to Japanese sources, the name of the female hostage in the Mad Jackal mini-game is Lucia Rosso, Dario Rosso's daughter (who is killed in the main game).

Carlos (along with Steve from Resident Evil: Code: Veronica (2000) and Billy from Biohazard Ø (2002)) is never seen or mentioned again in later installments.

There are two endings for this game. Ending A has Barry saving you via a helicopter. Ending B has Carlos flying the helicopter away.

Brad Vickers is a secret zombie found in Resident Evil 2 if you get to the police station without picking up any items. Brad is killed by the Nemesis monster in Resident Evil 3, but he shouldn't have turned to a zombie as he was not infected nor bitten by a zombie. He was impaled by Nemesis.

Anyone who liked Resident Evil & Resident Evil 2 will LOVE this game. It is the perfect third installment to the Playstation series of games. I especially like the part of the game where you actually get to shoot zombies as they rise out of the graveyard. Game lovers cannot go wrong playing this one. I can't say enough good things about these games!!!

The graphics are great, the video sequences are even better and the puzzles are very good. This is a great new game. I liked the way that the zombies can now walk up and down stairs to get you. You'll never be bored with this game. There are always things to kill and puzzles to solve. Get this game, it's great!

The 2nd, although scary with alot of replay value, pretty much tried too much to be like the original. "Biohazard 3" also has replay value, you make decisions that affect the path your character takes. It is also alot scarier than any of the other Resident Evils ("Biohazards")

You play as Jill Valentine, the character from the original Resident Evil, in a game that is Half Prequel, Half Sequel. Half of the game takes place before Resident Evil 2, the other half takes place after Resident Evil 2.

This game just keeps on exceeding itself.

It thought Resident Evil 2 was good but this is just amazing. The game play is awsome and graphic and sound are one of the best I have seen on playstation 1.I cant wait to try out the new Resident Evil:code Veronica on playstation 2.

My advice to you is,go and buy all the Resident Evil games from number one and to Code Veronica to get the whole story, its only then you really can appreciate the game. You will be surprised how adictiv and scary this game really is.

I remember playing this game when it first came out in 1999 on the Dreamcast and thinking how intense/scary it was compared to RE 1 and 2. Resident Evil 3 takes place in Raccoon city (before and after RE 2) and you play as S.T.A.R.S member Jill Valentine who is desperately trying to escape. You meet a few characters along the way and some interesting enemies including Umbrellas new monster Nemesis who's only mission is to kill the remaining S.T.A.R.S members. The game is full of fun challenging puzzles way better then the other games in my opinion. And for its time had incredible cut scene graphics. To this day this game is my favorite video game of all time. Every time I play it its just as interesting as the first. 10/10

Hot off the wild success of the second installment of Resident Evil, one would think that another game starring Jill Valentine would be even better. Depending on who you talk to, you'll get varied responses, but of course, it's by far better than the first one.

You only get to play as one person through this crazy roller coaster ride, Jill Valentine ( Not counting the small part when you play as Carlos ), whereas in 'Rez' 2, you could play up to four different ways ( Claire A/B, Leon A/B ).

Yet another change is where the game takes place. The first game took place in a Mansion, the second one took place in well, a bunch of places ( Art Gallery-Turned Police Station, sewers, Umbrella lab, etc. ), and this time around, the entire City of Raccoon is your playground.

But they made up for the lack of multiple ways to play. Jill can earn up to five extra outfits ( 70's Disco, STARS, Meter Maid, Regina from Dino Crisis, and Leather bodysuit ), and the weapons have become far less exotic from Resident Evil 2, but there are a lot more of them, not to mention the ability to create new weapons from parts given from the downed Nemesis.

Oh yeah, Nemesis. Remember how many times Tyrant popped up during the B game of RE2? Remember how he usually caught you at the worst times? Guess what? Nemesis shows up even MORE times! ( I lost track around twelve ). He's certainly a persistent little bugger.

I don't find it scared me as often as the other games, but it's still fun to play over and over ( Is it because Jill's just eye candy? Maaaaaaaaybe. ), and ponder time and time again, just how the heck Jill can run around killing zombies in a miniskirt and a halter top? Perhaps the zombies caught her in the middle of a date.

Final Score - ****½ out of five.

The gameplay is really astounding in this game. Most of the characters are developed enough to know a little or a lot about them. The different weaponry is really cool. The side stories are really intriguing. The zombies are detailed with different styles of them throughout the game and it makes it fun to play. The enemies are extremely advanced in this game. In the end this game did good for a Resident Evil game. Surprised me on how good it turned out to be. My rating 9/10

I played this game back when it came out after being totally enamored by Resident Evil 2, and I remember being sorely disappointed. The difference - in terms of graphics, sound, atmosphere, and overall coolness - between RE1 and RE2 was so astonishing, that this game just seemed like one of those sell-out moves where they plaster over a good game with a new plot. I mean, the door animations are the same, the zombies look the same, the weapons are the same (though it is cool that in easy mode you get all the weapons from the start). I played it through the police station and gave up.

Then, after being totally enamored (again) by Resident Evil 4, I decided I'd pick this one up and try it again. I was pleasantly surprised. The graphics look very dated, but not too distracting. And yes, a lot of the stuff is recycled from RE2, but there are also a lot of nice changes: There are fat zombies, zombies in suits, and zombies that move reasonably fast. Also, once you get past the police station, there are some nice exteriors, walking around the abandoned city; it's nice you don't get caught up inside a single building for most of the game, like in RE1 and 2. The background are well-rendered, the characters are as one-dimensional as you'd expect from a RE game, but the voice acting is slightly above average (and I get a kick out of hearing Jean Grey's voice from the old X-Men cartoon as Jill). Stuff like the ability to dodge monsters is welcome, and the quick turn (now standard in GameCube RE games) was a nice addition.

And there's Nemesis. A cool villain, tough to beat, shows up over and over and over again, almost to the point of annoying, but not quite. He's a little like a mixture of the man in the coat and William Birkin from RE2 - tough to kill, ever-mutating, etc.

Many people discredit this game for being a worthless side-story. It does seem like a quick cash-in between the superior RE2 and Code Veronica, but it does a nice job of closing off the Raccoon City storyline (and fleshing out the Umbrella conspiracy). It also provides the plot for the movie Resident Evil Apocalypse, so if you enjoyed that movie (either as a movie or as a hilarious piece of 21st-century techno-kitsch), I'd recommend this one. Not stellar, but it's better than I expected it to be, and definitely not a "collector's-only" title.

Resident Evil 3:Nemesis is the final game of Resident to be release on The Playstation 1.

Resident Evil 3 takes place during the events of Resident Evil 2 and then takes places after the events of Resident Evil 2.

You take control of Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 1 after she resigned from S.T.A.R.S. she went into hiding to avoid Umbrella.

However Umbrella after the T-Virus breaks loose in Raccoon City thanks to William Birkins begins it cover-up plan.

Jill joins crosses path with Brad Vickers the helicopter pilot of S.T.A.R.S. informs Jill that a new monster is after S.T.A.R.S.Members.

Soon Jill crosses paths with Nemesis the main villain of Resident Evil 3. Umbrella release Nemesis to kill all Surviving S.T.A.R.S. members so that they couldn't reveal the truth on Umbrella.

Jill later meets Carlos a member of the UBCS who becomes a Ally of Jill.

The game still has the same graphics and backgrounds from Resident Evil 2 with some differences.

The Controls remain much the same as past Resident Evil games like the saying goes if it is not broke don't fix it.

The horrors that makes Resident Evil the game it is still has the power to make you feel scared and have your heart race fast while fighting Zombies and other monsters and Nemesis jumps out of nowhere and at random times and each time is scary.

CAPCOM really took the time to make Nemesis a real threat to the game, the Nemesis can run dodge attacks and chase you through out the game and uses a rocket launcher.

Resident Evil 3:Nemesis is really a strong sequel and consider one of the best in the series and deliver the horrors perfectly.

Overall Resident Evil 3 is really a scary game and brings what fans love about the series in the first place I give Resident Evil 3:Nemesis an 8 out of 10 Jill:You want STARS I'll Give You STARS

For a side game meant to hold fans over while the series moved on to the next generation of consoles with RE:Code Veronica, RE3 is a strong contender for best overall game in the franchise. The ability to quick turn, toggle while targeting, and mix gunpowder were welcome gameplay additions. Back to back playthroughs are rarely ever the same as solutions to puzzles and pop-up scare locations change, and player decisions influence the way the plot unfolds. RE3 closes out the Raccoon City chapter of the game with S.T.A.R.S officer Jill Valentine's final attempt to escape the giant graveyard, evading zombies, mutants, Umbrella mercs, and a powerful new Bioweapon; Nemesis. Like Mr. X before him, this nemesis will stop at nothing to locate and end you, and is far more equipped to do so. As if having the hunting prowess of Predator, the speed of a Jamaican sprinter, NFL linebacker bulk, and the face of Sam Cassell weren't scary enough, they had the audacity to give this guy a rocket launcher!!

Although this game was released in 1999, this game has the right kind of back story and well-developed plot, with just the right game play, I'd have to say no wonder they had to put it on Game Cube. The graphics are a little bit off, but you gotta keep the release date in mind. As I've said, it's a PS One Classic.

This Resident Evil has gotten much better since the first one. The first one was horrible on graphics, so bad that I'd say you'd be better off playing the Game Cube version. And it had an obvious plot right next to the fact that you end up running out of shells and reloading equipment on the first RE. And despite the lack of ammunition, the enemies can withstand a lot of bullets. Not fair in the least.

The Second RE was suppose to be happening once Jill gets reaches the Clock Tower. That's why you'll notice the police barricades have been taken down by the time Leon and Claire get to the police station. The only thing that I liked more about RE: 2 that differs in comparison to this edition of the series was the fact that Claire, Leon, and Sherry get to explore the boarded-up places in the place. That should have been part of Jill's adventure in the station. And I also didn't like how in RE: 2, you can play as Leon and Claire. Jill should have had a better side character than Carlos. He's not a bad character, but Jill deserves better. And you know it. Brad, as wimpy as he is, would have been a better character than Carlos.

Although more of a side game than a continuation re3 delivers a great, blood chilling, adrenaline pounding experience that keeps getting better every second. In this game you play as Jill Valentine, one of the 5{if you count brad} survivors of the mansion incident. Raccoon city has been ravaged by the t-virus and you must escape the city. But zombies and brain suckers are not your only enemies, a new foe named Nemesis tracks you down in hopes to rip your head off. This adds a new element that was missing in other re games, a foe that will fallow you through doors. This might seem small but it defiantly adds tension. Also new is the dodge button missing in other re games. This allows you to doge enemies. You will use this often because of Nemesis. And the reloading tool allows you to make your own ammo which is invaluable for moments were you need ammo and quick. This is more action oriented then previous game but steel feels like re. Also, in my opinion, the controls are perfect as long as you don't play it like a run-and-run game. All in all it is near perfect, so it receives a 4-out of-5.

First off I must say that this was the first RE game I played. I borrowed it from a mate to sample something different on my console and boy did I ever. Almost immediately I was absorbed the sheer atmosphere of the beginning, the tapping of the typewriter as Jill proclaims 'her last resort' is stunning and at the time seamed a breath of fresh air to anything I had ever witnessed on my console. In my opinion the atmosphere is the scariest part of the game, it absorbs you and makes you feel like you are there standing next to Jill. It forces you to keep playing just to see how the game will develop.

Nemesis was probably the first single character from a game or from a film to really frighten me, fuelled by my friends warning to avoid him/it at all costs my adreniline sky rocketed whenever I met him in the game. However I thought he got less scary as he got less human throughout the game.

This was the first game that gave me a real feeling of satisfaction once I had completed it and it was this that made me realise that survival horror was my thing.

Despite being brilliant like anything this game isnt perfect. It wasnt until I had played all of the other RE games that I realised how easy this one was. If Nemesis doesnt get you nothing will and unlike the other games ammo is plentiful as are herbs and aid bottles. This perhaps makes it less scary because there is nothing worse than feeling helpless. This game also seemed shorter than the others but to be honest when you enjoy something so much it is always going to end to soon no matter how long it is.

Just after the Mansion problem, Jill decides now is the time to leave the city when the zombies begin to walk the streets. The time frame in this is 24 hours before the events in BioHazard 2 and another 24 hours after it. Umbrella has hired a group of mercenaries to search for survivors, possibly just to make them look good, since most of the evidence of their research was left in the mansion. It appears that umbrella has been up to some other experiments... a monster prototype Nemesis has been sent out to kill the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members, so getting out of the city suddenly got much harder than Jill thought...

This is the third installment of the Resident Evil series. The first two were awesome and this one didn't disappoint me. The gameplay was incrediable. This was probably the most frightening of the series because of Nemesis. That was one tough monster! He's awesome! If you are a fan of the first two, then you'll like this one!

In My Opinion, It's the Best Resident Evil Game. It's Great As a Sequel to Resident Evil 1 & 2. The whole story goes with it, but I think the best part is running from Nemesis. I think he's the Greatest Zombie/Enemy in the Resident Evil saga. I realize they made a movie for Resident Evil, and I think they should make one for part 2 & Nemesis, It would ROCK the Box Office!!!

The Resident Evil series becomes more realistic as the titles go on and on. In number 1, the mansion was beautiful; in number 2, the police station looked amazing; number 3, the city looked like a real city. Number 3's enemies were a bit tougher. Zombies walking down the stairs and walking faster. Nemesis is one big dude who is very fast. I enjoyed this one a whole lot. Some people thought that Carlos Oliveira's voice was lacking with his accent. I think that Vince Corazza did a fine job as Carlos. I am a Survival Horror fan, and I loved this RE title. For a few reasons: the music, the graphics, and Carlos. Yes, he's not real, but he's cute for a ficticous character. The Zombies get more and more real looking as each title goes on. Capcom does a great job with these spine chilling games. The original Resident Evil has its moments still with me. The music in all three (I'm excluding RE: Code Veronica and RE: Survivor, since I have not played them yet) were spine chilling and got better and better. My over-all reaction to RE 3 is that it makes you become a better player with the dodge feature. I enjoyed it, and I highly recommened it to all RE fans and new RE fans. You'll enjoy it. You'll marvel at the artistic work that has been put into Biohazard 3: Last Escape. There are two modes: Easy and Hard. Try easy first to get the feel of it, then go for hard. Either way, you'll still have some challenges in your path.

Still has the spirit of the original Resident Evil. Nemesis is pry the best villian I have seen next to the original Tyrant. This is a must-have to any gamer. The survival horror genre has just gotten better than ever due to this game.

RESIDENT EVIL 3: NEMESIS is the "biggest" game in the series.

Plot: Jill Valentine, formerly of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team, is trying to escape the zombie-infested Raccoon City. The town is crumbling to pieces, and possibly the world has struck armageddon. Jill will come face to face with the Tyrant, the biggest and baddest of all the T-virus infected creatures, by the end of the game.

NEMESIS has the least plot of the three games, but it still makes for the biggest and most explosive one. The story of the first one ended, and the story of the second one continued years later. Now this story is an immediate continuation of the previous one, no break in between. Go out and rent RESIDENT EVIL 3: NEMESIS for Playstation.

With the second 'Resident Evil' game breaking sales figures in 1998, fans were left screaming for more. The following year, plans for a third game started to come to fruition. Initially, the game was to take place on a luxury cruise liner in which Hunk ( a mysterious spy from Umbrella who was introduced as an unlockable character in 'Resident Evil 2' ) was attempting to harbour samples of the G-Virus. This didn't happen alas, instead it focused on Jill Valentine ( who was one of the protagonists in the first game ) attempting to escape the zombie infested town that was once Raccoon City and so 'Resident Evil 3: Nemesis' was born. 'Nemesis' was unique in the 'Resident Evil' series in that it was the first game to have a single protagonist as opposed to two.

The game is divided into two segments. The first segment, set 24 hours before the events of 'Resident Evil 2' starts with Jill escaping from her apartment, with plans to flee Raccoon City. On her way to the police station, she runs into fellow S.T.A.R.S member Brad Vickers ( who many will remember from the first game as the spineless pilot who left his colleagues stranded in the mountains ) who warns Jill about a new bio-organic weapon created by Umbrella who is sent out to eliminate the R.P.D, only moments later to be brutally killed by said creature. This is none-other than Nemesis, a gargantuan, severely deformed monster who with his rocket launcher will hound you throughout the game. After managing to evade Nemesis and get out the police station alive. You will meet smooth-talking but kind-hearted Carlos Oliveria, well-meaning Mikhail Victor ( who is paralysed after being attacked by zombies ) and cold Nicholai Ginovaef, all of whom are members of the U.B.C.S ( 'Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service' ). Jill then joins forces with the Umbrella soldiers and decides to travel with them to the Raccoon City clock tower where a rescue chopper is to meet them.

However, Nicholai later goes missing and is presumed dead, Mikhail ends up taking his own life during a face-off with Nemesis in a bid to save Jill and Carlos as they travel via train to the clock tower, which ends up crashing in the courtyard of their destination. Not long after arrival, Jill has another face off with Nemesis and is injected by him with the G-Virus. It is at this point you will temporarily take control of Carlos in order to gain an antidote to save Jill from the virus. It is also at this point you learn that Nicholai is a supervisor from an espionage organisation sent out to gather combat data on the infected subjects who, if successful in his mission, is to receive a generous cash reward.

In the second section of the game ( which is now set two days after the events of 'Resident Evil 2' ), after being cured from the virus, Jill then leaves the clock tower to head to the Incineration Disposal Plant ( a plant disguised as an abandoned factory which Umbrella are using to dispose of bio organic waste ) where she learns that the government are planning to launch a missile into Raccoon City to prevent the virus from spreading. Your remaining mission now is to get out alive before the city is wiped out completely.

'Nemesis' is my favourite out of all the 'Resident Evil' games. Yet again, some new monsters are introduced here such as the Gammas ( a deadlier variation on the Hunters from the first game ), Drain Demios ( hideous blood sucking monsters ), Brain Suckers ( a more vicious variant on the Drain Demios ) and a giant worm like monster. Nemesis is indeed the stand out from all though. He terrified me at the time ( listen to how he growls ''S.T.A.R.S' each time he pounces an attack and you'll know why ). As the game transpires, Nemesis gradually becomes more and more mutated and by the end becomes a slug-like pulp. There are more cryptic puzzles to solve here too ( the water temperature puzzle had me baffled for days ). Also, certain sequences in the game require the character to make a certain choice to get out of a dangerous situation, which will vary the way the game ends.

The voice acting here is actually rather passable ( sexy Catherine Disher does a far better job of voicing Jill than the inexperienced bimbo who voiced her in the first game who is simply only known as 'Inezh' ) and the soundtrack is pretty hot too. Also fun is the bonus game 'The Mercenaries' unlocked upon completion in which you can take control of one of the three U.B.C.S members in order to reach a target destination in a given time.

This would have made a fine finale to the series but Capcom felt they could expand the format further and in 2000 made 'Resident Evil: Survivor'. It was dreadful. It was by this point I lost interest in the games ( with the exception of the excellent 2002 relaunch of the first game ).

If the much hyped remake of the second 'Resident Evil 2' is successful when it appears, one wonders if a remake of the third game will be on the cards. Let's hope so.

Resident Evil 3 - Nemesis is simply the best game ever released. I played it back in 2000 when I was really young and I was so mesmerized by this game that I couldn't do anything else for months. I only wanted to play and play. Jill Valentine got her place in my heart and the best and more complete character of all and Nemesis had his meaning too. He was simply terrifying, which made him unforgettable. Don't consider this grade, it deserves a 10. And if you are the kind of person who is able to feel the things from within, you'll agree with me. PS=I'd like to ask you guys to ignore all the reviews from the players who started playing with Resident Evil 4. Cause they are the ones who give bad reviews to this amazing game, just because they got into the franchise through the game that changed the franchise sense and they were probably teenagers at the time, to compare the graphics (since they were not able to feel the essence of this masterpiece.)

RE(Remastered)& Nemesis are the only two games i have given top marks for.Nemesis is perfect in both story & game-play;hard mode offers immense replay & difficulty value(NEMESIS in particular)and is accomplished with the usual RE values & traits.Acting is--for the most part, great.Nemesis him self is one of the most relentlessly brutal scary creations ever(Watch ya self Jason)and tops off this game perfectly. The cut-scenes add spice and inject -- like previous RESIDENT EVILS the power and pacing that these old games need to allow them to be accessible for everyone to enjoy,as zombies are everyones cup-of-tea--why CAPCOM added so many elements into the series.

I remember being pretty damn impressed when I first got this game (first one I'd actually ever picked up). Having played the others since, I can say that this is equal to RE2 (which is saying something, considering that was great), though Nemesis is the best boss of the original three as far as I'm concerned.

Pros: + Nemesis. One of the most unrelenting, scariest bosses in gaming. + Pretty strong cast of characters. + Genuinely scary, a lot of the time.

Cons: - Same premise as before, in many ways (not the most original game). - Same gameplay as before, too.
