Saw this on a fluke a few years back - not a great copy. But you could still see the touches of brilliance. It leads you to want more even when you know in your mind the story has been nearly perfectly told to its natural (and equally perfect) conclusion. (By "perfect", I mean perfect for the story, not likened to godliness or some such.)

Anyway, if you ever find yourself in the position to see this film, pounce on it. It's a one-of-a-kind experience. And let me know if you can get me a copy!

It's about a woman, not a bird - and a desert, NOT dessert. And it's darn good - the kind of film they can't do any more. Ever. Any more. It shows up on ebay now and then, and if you see it there, pluck it up.
