For anyone who loves music and music festivals this film is a treat. It's a great premise; make a film about a love story during a actual huge outdoor music festival. You have to keep in mind that the logistics of doing this had to have been a b**ch. This is not a cult film, or a classic, or a carefully crafted under control movie. It is what it is: a simple rock and roll fantasy, probably sketched out in general and then written as filming progressed to take advantage of what was going on at the event. I applaud the filmmakers for having the b*lls to attempt this, and then coming away with a sweet story with fun characters and a good feel of the festival spirit.

In Scotland, the successful American band The Make formed by the singer Adam (Luke Treadaway) and the keyboard player Tyko (Matthew Baynton) will participate at T in the Park Festival. When they meet the girls from the band The Dirty Pinks, Adam has an argument with the lead singer Morello (Natalia Tena). A preacher separates them and asks the two bands to pray together. Out of the blue, he handcuffs Adam and Morello and leaves the place in a golf cart. When The Dirty Pinks have to perform, Adam participates with the group and their show is a success. They are forced to spend the night together and his girlfriend Lake (Ruta Gedmintas) and her boyfriend Mark (Alastair Mackenzie) stay with them. But soon they feel that Adam and Morello are connected not only by the handcuffs.

"You Instead" is a delightful rock 'n' roll romance highly indicated for fans of music. The story has nice characters; a lead couple with perfect chemistry; and was filmed at the 2010 T in the Park Festival. Therefore the film entwines a real festival with adorable characters and people interacting with the cast. Luke and Natalia have musical experience and have composed two songs. In the end, "You Instead" is a predictable film that the viewer wishes that could have bis. My vote is eight.

Look. This movie is not going to win any awards. It's very short and honestly, there's NOT a whole lot of actual story here. However, I thought it was a nice little distraction. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters. Are they gonna win Oscars for their acting? Eh. They were obnoxious but I liked them. The music was great. I loved hearing all the new songs and hearing some old ones in a whole new way. Actually, I really enjoyed all of the music in the movie. Is this movie gonna change your life? Nope. It's definitely not going to do that. Sometimes a movie just is what it is and that's OK! Give it a chance....

Tonight You're Mine is nothing truly original, boy and girl meet, they dislike each other but are forced to spend time together and then they find that they do like each other, at least romantically. But the smart and witty banter isn't too over the top in a way that makes you say "people don't talk like that" and the chemistry is fantastic. The storyline is a very laid back one, the two bands are hanging out at the "T in the Park" festival and having a good time in between their performances while the leads to each are handcuffed together.

Natalia Tena is an under-used actress with so much potential. She gets really into character and pulls you in, in a way that makes you think that that is her true personality. She was lively, boisterous and sweet in this role and it fit her perfectly. I've never heard of Luke Treadaway before but his acting seemed to be on par for me, and he seemed really natural with his co-star.

I thought that actually filming the movie at and during the "T in the Park" festival was ingenious. They got so much production value out of it, real true things that you can't duplicate even with the most experienced set designer and director. Overall the movie is a real good time; you have fun watching it, wanting to go out and party afterwords. I don't have anything bad to say about this movie and I give it a 6.0 because its just a fun film, nothing too serious but not so un-serious.

Thank heavens for "Tonight You're Mine" (or its original title in the U.K.: "You Instead"), a movie that manages to exceed my expectations for a story like this. Undeniably sweet, magical and occasionally funny at times, this rock and roll gem will surprise you from start to finish. It's also the kind of movie you can watch on a rainy day and you can still have a good time. Luke Treadaway from the "Clash of the Titans" remake and "Attack the Block" stars as Adam, one-half of the American rock band "The Make". His day is not starting to go well. He's supposed to perform at the "T in the Park" music festival in Scotland. While that happens, he happens to be handcuffed, thanks to a scheming minister, with Morello (Natalia Tena, Nymphadora Tonks from the "Harry Potter" film series), the band leader for the British female rock group "The Dirty Pinks", (who also have to perform at the festival) after some bitter arguments. All of this takes place at that festival and throughout the movie, Adam and Morello has to find a way to break out of those cuffs, play their gigs, and---possibly---make a magical connection that might find themselves in love. I know you think that this is another one of those groan-inducing rom-coms, but trust me, this is much different than that. Clocking in a rather fast time of 80 minutes, "Tonight You're Mine" has a heart that pulsates with energy and a soul that rollicks with a staggering sweetness. It's hard to believe that Treadaway (with a very solid American accent) and Tena are very talented (Singing and playing guitar/keyboard) on- and off-screen. But they are and they accomplished that in spades. Their chemistry together is incredible. The music in the film is amazing. It's like listening to a mix tape that you made before, but never listened to it until now and it happens to be a very eclectic mix tape filled with many different sounds. (One of the standouts of that mix tape is Adam and Morello performing "Tainted Love" on stage.) I give director David Mackenzie (of the sexually charged "Young Adam", the Ashton Kutcher disaster "Spread", and the mind-boggling "Perfect Sense") credit for taking us inside the actual "T in the Park" festival. It must have been very difficult to shoot in the festival for 4-5 days, bringing a lot of pressure on the actors. But it feels very authentic, real and organic. What also works is that Mackenzie and screenwriter Thomas Leveritt gives the characters a lot of humanity, including Adam's model girlfriend (Ruta Gedmintas), Morello's on-again, off-again boyfriend (Alastair Mackenzie, the director's brother), Adam's other half Tyko (Mathew Baynton) and the sleazy manager (Gavin Mitchell), who nearly hits on women when he's drunk. Yes, there are no surprises. But there's nothing to be surprised about anyway, except for a couple of them. That's why "Tonight You're Mine" is really magical in many ways possible. You won't be disappointed. Give this film a go.

You Instead is as close as it gets to being at a music festival without actually being there. Right from the start the audience is wholly immersed in the festival atmosphere. This is, in part, down to the crew shooting the entirety of the film at the T in the Park event in Scotland and featuring the artists performing there (Biffy Clyro and Joe Mango to name two).

Director David Mackenzie took the two actors and their supporting cast and literally dropped them in it. Up to their knees in mud at times and performing amongst a genuine crowd of revellers from start to finish. Luke Treadaway and Natalia Tena are more than convincing as frontmen of their respective bands, largely helped by Tena's burgeoning career as a musician with her group Molotov Jukebox.

You Instead takes brilliant advantage of an environment where the rules of daily life no longer apply. The result is a film populated with larger than life characters in a world we rarely get a glimpse of, and it's a great fun place to spend an hour and a half.

"If musicians can't get along what hope we got?" After Morello (Tena) shakes Adam's (Treadway) car in order to make him stop playing guitar they start to fight. When a security guard drives by and sees them he decides the only way to make them get along is to handcuff them together. That sounds bad enough but they are at a music festival and are both scheduled to play and no one knows where the key is. For those that have been following my reviews you may have noticed that I am not a fan of cheesy, predictable, un-original movies. This movie is an exception to that rule. Five minutes in the two are handcuffed together and after about 6 minutes you know how it will end. That said it is still very entertaining and really fun to watch. The music is actually really good as well and the song where the sample "Tainted Love" is great. This is nothing more then a cheesy predictable love story but even so I enjoyed it and I recommend it. Overall, nothing new and won't keep you guessing but this is still very much worth seeing. I really liked it. I give it an B+.

Somehow right from the start, when I saw the UK National Lottery logo, I knew I was going to like this movie. And it was one of most intimately heartfelt movies I have seen in months. The plot in itself is neither a big bang discovery nor it ends with an unexpected twist. The events follow the inevitable logic of a fairytale, leavening everyone happy and where they have to be in life. But make no mistake, it doesn't cause the story to be ant less interesting because what you want in this movie is to soak into the atmosphere of the music festivals, the great music in itself( if you are into this indie kind of stuff) and of course the boy-meet-girl-than-both-get-handcuffed love story. It was so imaginary and so real at the same time that I completely fell head over heals for it. I always liked Natalia and Luke, being two of the most peculiar, unforgettable faces in cinema today. They delivered great performances with very believable chemistry.That topped with Luke's singing in the beginning made all this music fairy land so organic and tangible, pretty impossible to look away. Also I very much appreciated how the romance was sprinkled with few good laughs that totally kept the presumed mushiness aside. Great film to enjoy, excellent hangover antidote.

It must have been an absolute nightmare to try to shoot a watchable film at a wet festival over one weekend. There's the odd really lovely piece of camera-work tucked away in here and the whole thing beautifully captures the festival experience with a surprisingly unobtrusive but mesmerizing music score. Great to see a cast of more or less unknowns, putting to shame bigger names and far bigger budgets. Not every film has to shock or nudge the audience into exploring some hidden dark side of themselves. Sometimes films are there just to record the lighter side of life, and this is one of them. A pleasant stroll through T in the Park ..... nothing wrong with that.

Difficult to know where to start with this one, as there is so much that is wrong with You Instead that I could easily fill twice IMDb's word limit and then some. Here are a few basic points: The plot is so slight and implausible as to be almost non-existent. In the hands of a good director this would not necessarily be a bad thing if the ensuing action was engaging, funny or persuasive. Sadly, none of it is - 'Somewhere' this is not. Indeed, it has all the hallmarks of a film that started shooting without a fully realised script and has relied on improvisation and hasty rewrites to get by - ie. a lack of narrative drive which is further hobbled by stilted dialogue, devoid of the sparkle or wit that you need if you're basic premise is as flimsy as You Instead's is. I sense that there was an attempt to construct some sort of episodic structure to make up for this lack of cohesive plot, but none of it knits together, satisfyingly or otherwise. The filmmakers will probably claim that it's meant to capture the spirit of T in the Park and that it's aimed at a young audience. But that cannot excuse this long ribbon of tripe, which would be only slightly more convincing if it was presented as the product of a student project. No doubt You Instead be funnelled into that most dubious of categories 'Cult Classic', but don't be fooled, folks, avoid!

Someone else called this sweet. That is a good word for this very simple story which was filmed at a real rock fest with 100,000 people attending. It was shot in five days. That said, it is important to see the high professional level of acting and story telling. Appealing young people, good not great music making and the feeling of being in the middle of things. The rock crowd helps give a docu-drama feel to the enterprise. Two rock "stars" meet and have an argument. A security guy puts them in handcuffs to quiet them down. Suddenly he, and the key, is lost in the crowd. The couple is stuck together. Boy and girl. Chemistry. Situations. I enjoyed the film very much and will plan on seeing it again in awhile.

The film Tonight You're Mine is fairly standard stuff, but it did give a good feel of what it is like to be young and attend an all-out, in-the-mud music festival. And the worst thing about this flick is the choice of the last song... it should have been something totally special... instead it just kinda leaves things out-a-sync. Captions would have helped with lots of the inaudible dialogue... (hey... netflix listened!!).

OK. Will it win an Oscar? No. But, if you like movies about musicians and the music scene, this little flick is not that bad. I enjoyed the realistic feel of the British rock fest scene which is instantly recognizable to anyone who watches documentaries of these festivals on cable TV. No one rocks like rock fans in the U.K. ... I thought the lead actor and actress had chemistry. The film works when it pokes fun at itself. I particularly enjoyed the "Tainted Love" scene. I laughed at the main actor's facial expressions and was really impressed with his singing voice. As a baby boomer and the mother of a budding rock musician, I loved watching a younger generation take an old '80s song and make it sound fresh and relevant to today's audiences.

Admittedly I did not have high hopes after reading the summary of this film on Netflix. AND although, as other reviewers have noted, this movie can be a bit cheesy and predictable, it has still quickly become one of my favorites. Despite what is, at times, a somewhat unbelievable storyline, the fantastic music and charming acting make this movie a definite worth-watch. My favorite thing about this film is the amazing chemistry between Tena and Treadaway; their effortless and natural banter leads to a believable attraction, even when other plot points lack believability. Overall, I would highly recommend this film to music buff and romantics alike. Definitely worth a watch!

The one thing I love about the British film industry is that it's not afraid to take some risks. They fund independent projects which don't always make a lot of money, but they don't care, or at least that isn't there number one priority. They don't reproduce a set of Hollywood- idealized plots, and they don't make sequels or prequels as if they're life depended on it. What they do is even better - they make something original. And originality and quality is what we have with Tonight You're Mine – its quirky, its British and its bloody good.

It tells the story of two feuding rock stars who are handcuffed together for 24 hours at T-in-the-Park where they are both due to perform. Obviously a whole host of random drunken debauchery ensues and we see how, in the midst of the madness of brilliant music and classic British weather, their relationship develops from one of feuding and bickering to friendship and romance. Maybe not love, because come on, we British aren't deluded, you don't fall in love with someone in 24 hours, but you can fall 'in'. Big difference. This is something the film does rather brilliantly – it depicts the 'in'.
