Park Island actually was an amusement park in Lake Orion, Michigan, but the death of the teenage girl is fictional.

Filmed in October of 2015, a freak snowstorm rolled in during the filming of the ghost girl on the bridge. Since visibility was reduced to almost zero, production was halted until the snowstorm passed a few minutes later.
