Towards the end of the movie, Michelle references the disappearance of a little boy, and the death of the town sheriff. This is a direct reference to events that happened in the 2006 low budget independent horror film 'Bigfoot' from writer and director Bob Gray, which was filmed in the same area (The Headlands in Mentor, OH).
