A quick, unabashed look at the downside of "kids' cereals" and hard-sell marketing, through the fictional brand Sooper Goop; an overpriced, overprocessed, candied, chemically-enriched, bad excuse for nutrition. (Not to mention a here-today, gone-tomorrow one; by the end, Sooper Goop is already being outsold by Eatum Sweetum, made from a different grain, but with the same drawbacks.) Kid-friendly, with a lesson easy to understand, and impossible to forget.

Just saw this obscure animated short on the DailyMotion site. It starts in live action as a mother is buying her kids a new cereal with this short's title as the name. We then see the animated commercial which stars a cat named Rodney. He then takes us to where the idea germinated before being tested by the company boss and then he brainstorms with the ad rep for a way to sell the product. Many satirically pertinent lines and scenes tell how some exaggeration occurs in telling of how "good" the product is for you and what "nutritional" value it has. Quite educational and entertaining if you're willing to laugh at how dishonest some advertisers can be. So on that note, I recommend Sooper Goop.
