The town of Middleton, where most of this series' characters live and work, is an example of "Anytown, USA," with several deliberately contradictory clues to its precise location. The people of Middleton seem to be of Californian "Valley" culture, but the town is home to numerous astronomical research facilities more typical of NASA bases in Houston, Texas and Canaveral, Florida. Middleton is also within driving distance of Rocky Mountains more suited to Colorado and its immediate neighbors. A Colorado location is supported in one of the earliest episodes: in Kim Possible: The New Ron (2002), Señor Senior Senior contemplates his plan to attack Middleton while looking at a map of Middle America, and his gaze seems to be focusing on Colorado, but this is directly contradicted in other episodes. Real life townships named Middleton can be found in the American states of Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin, as well in several non-American English-speaking countries such as England, Scotland, and Australia. The gag of a generic Middleton is probably a tribute to the similarly generic "Springfield" of Les Simpson (1989), Nancy Cartwright's (Rufus) breakthrough series.

From January 2009 until 18 May 2012, the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure was an interactive attraction in several of Epcot's World Showcase pavilions in Walt Disney World. The attraction was an electronic scavenger hunt that had guests using special "Kimmunicators" (modified cell phones) to help Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable solve a "crime" or disrupt an evil-doer's "plans for global domination." The "Kimmunicator" was able to trigger specific events within the pavilion grounds that provided clues to completing the adventure. Presented by Verizon Wireless, the Adventure was included in park admission. After closing, the Adventure's spot was taken by a similar attraction: "Disney's Phinéas et Ferb (2007)'s Agent P World Showcase Adventure," which opened in June 2012.
Ron's pet naked mole rat's name Rufus and Ron's catchphrase "Rufus!" could possibly be taken from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989).
Dr. James Timothy Possible is voiced by Gary Cole, who also voiced the main title character in Adult Swim's Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law.
