Jack is short for Jacqueline Barrett, about to marry Harvard law student Danny Hallahan, till the maid of honor confesses at the altar she slept with Danny- the night before! So Jack goes to New York, where her friend Audrey works in Broadway. 'Jill' is short for David Jillefsky, a graduated engineer and gifted artist who keeps rooming with golden spoon but brilliant med student Bartholomew 'Barto' Zane and drop-out Michael 'Mikey' Russo, rather then move in with his sexy girl-friend Elisa Cronkite.
