Money is tight and Malory is extra cranky, nagging the team to earn money. Miss Outlaw Country and Mr. Danger Zone are slated to star at a baby shower for Lana; Archer can't rest until he gets his idol to sing as his special gift for the expectant mother. But, Kenny Loggins has his own problems...it takes Archer and Pam some finagling to locate and get him on board. But Lana skipped the '80s. Woodhouse is the one who really saves the day. How, exactly, is Archer financing all of this fun and frivolity?

When Archer comments that Kenny Loggins' briefcase holds "either plutonium or a human soul" this is possibly a reference to the rumor that the suitcase from Pulp Fiction (1994)contains Marsellus Wallace's soul due to various other indicators, such as the suitcase glowing when opened.

Just before cutting to commercial, Pam pops one of her cocaine "mints" and smiles, after which a tiny sparkle appears in the corner of her mouth. This is a clear reference to a series of commercials for Mentos from the 1980's and 90's, where it was marketed as "The Freshmaker". The packaging for Pam's "mints" even resembles the packaging for Mentos from that time period.

Archer berating Pam to not make fun of Messina is a nod to musician Jim Messina, who was a member of the folk rock group Buffalo Springfield, a founding member of the country rock band Poco (as noted by Archer), and was one-half of the soft-rock duo Loggins and Messina, along with Kenny Loggins.
