After gambling addiction drives her father to suicide, betting mother Julia Swayne Gordon (as Mrs. Raymond) fears beautiful daughter Anita Stewart (as Trixie) is headed down the path to ruin and sends her to be schooled in a convent. The plan works better than expected, and Ms. Stewart considers becoming a nun. Then, her mother persuades Stewart to experience life as a socialite for a year. This also works too well, and the gambling fever returns. Stewart's dashing sweetheart Earle Williams (as Norris Graham) proposes marriage, and tries to help Stewart change her ways, but it seems like gambling runs in the Raymond family…

A shocking ending, and the sordid subject matter, make this unavailable film very appealing. Hopefully, it may yet be discovered.

According to Tarleton Winchester, in "Motion Picture Magazine" (March 1915), the Vitagraph feature "is an exciting and beautiful acted melodrama which will hold the interest if one is willing to accept its thesis. Its climax is really fine, unexpected and powerful, but I doubt if the author has made an exhaustive study of the subject about she has written here. Anita Stewart and Earle Williams play delightfully, while Paul Scardon as De Voie, the French gambling-house keeper, gives a remarkably finished performance." In the magazine's all-time best performances poll, Stewart's "Trixie" was #21 and Williams' "Norris" placed at #51.
