Short summary

A young woman, all alone in a cabin on a dark and stormy night, learns firsthand how to cut a throat.
A young woman, all alone in a cabin on a dark and stormy night, survives creepy phone calls, a cat with bad timing and a boyfriend with severely impaired judgment before learning firsthand how to cut a throat. What begins as a cheeky tribute to late-seventies/early eighties slasher flicks becomes a behind-the-scenes guide to dragging a blade over an exposed neck and making it bleed... with the fine art of special makeup effects!

The throat-cutting effect is shot on a soundstage dressed to look like a cabin, suggesting that the entire production was shot in an artificial environment. In fact the narrative portion was shot on a real location that was demolished before the effect could be filmed there.

The cabin that the narrative scenes were shot in was an actual occupied residence. In the middle of filming the residents were surprised by house guests in need of a place to crash after a long drive. Many scenes were then shot in rooms in which multiple people were sleeping just off-camera.

Produced independently by Jack Bennett as his proof-of-concept for a behind-the-scenes series on practical effects. When Chris Hardwick suggested in a pitch meeting that Scott Ian would make a good host, the show became Blood and Guts with Scott Ian (2012).
