Pictures of fire engines racing to a conflagration were a frequent subject for early actualities. Although they were usually titled as being from a particular city -- thus sure to play in that particular town for some time -- they are mostly an indistinguishable lot, although there is one in which wheels are replaced by sleigh runners....

The two distinguishing marks of this one are that one of the dogs that runs excitedly about the street is a poodle, placing this, one imagines, some place in France. The other is a man in a duster to the left of the frame who makes pumping motions with his visible hand ... or is he turning a camera crank?
