This episode, made in 1950, is excellent and passes the test of time, meaning that it is still watchable today. The story is excellent. It frames the issues clearly and concisely and move forward at a brisk pace. The Lone Ranger and Tonto are wonderful characters. They do what they do not for personal gain but for more sublime reasons. Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels invest their characters with dignity. Thus, the show maintains dramatic value. This is why the show works, as exemplified by this episode. The Lone Ranger and Tonto work as a team and deal with some rough characters commit nasty crimes and put the entire community at risk. That the Lone Ranger and Tonto succeed in solving crimes and bringing justice may seem contrived, but it isn't. They are the epitome of justice and their presence makes one believe that there is still hope for humanity. Now, that may seem far-fetched but it isn't. Remember: that someone actually wrote scripts with this theme means that the idea is alive and not just wishful thinking.
