A Lifetime TV movie mystery entitled "Who Killed My Husband?" tells the story of a mother/detective whose husband/detective gets murdered while working as an undercover.Andrea Bowen, who happens to be a regular cast member of Desperate Housewives, stars in it as mother/detective Sophie Howell together with Yasmeene Ball, Jim Thorburn and Anja Savcic.David Winning directed the film.

Sophie asked her husband Doug to purchase the cake for the birthday party of their daughter's 14th birthday.Unfortunately,Dough was killed in the bakeshop. Many months after,Sophie decides to return as a full-time detective. She starts with a desktop and later was asked to worked undercover at a tech company who is into illegal activities. She does her job extremely well but later attempts on her life were made by the goons working in the company.Later, she found herself chasing for them after her daughter who happens to be confined in the hospital due to asthma with whom she has a poor relationship with.Predictably, she was able to bring down the criminals who unknowingly were responsible for her husband's murder.

The TV movie mystery was alright although it had a the title "Who Killed My Husband?" to begin with. The murder mystery was not unexpectedly predictable especially the identification of the criminals. It also shied away from too much melodrama despite the fact that there were many flashback scenes between Dough and Sophie and the number of scenes the latter was shown despairing for the death of her husband at the beginning. The stepmother-daughter relationship between Sophie and Chloe also did not become a distraction.I also would like to say the Andrea Bowen had a good performance.Overall,it was surprisingly engaging especially on how the tech company was conducting its illegal activities and how Sophie was able to bring them down.

Former Desperate Housewives cast member Andrea Bowen stars in this TV movie entitled "Who Killed My Husband?". Yasmeene Ball and Jim Thorburn co-stars with Bowen in this story about a female police detective whose husband was killed in the line of duty.Director David Winning provides us a strong story in it as the female police detective balances her time in solving the last case of her husband and taking care of her young asthmatic daughter.

Sophie Howell and her daughter was surprised that Detective Dough Howell was getting late after he promised to bring the cake early to celebrate Chloe's 15th birthday.Later, they were sadly informed that Dough was killed. This led Sophie into a deep depression after the death of her husband.Later, she decides to go back to the Police Department. She started working to a desk job in the office and later she was assigned as an undercover disguising herself as an Efficiency IT expert to audit CyberCash which was the last case of her husband.Overcoming her lack of experience after being away from work for a long time and the dangerous obstacles she encountered, she managed to put down the people who was responsible for her husband's death and discover the illegal activities that the company has been into.

The TV movie was enjoyable having a strong screenplay.Credit should be given to the screenwriters Karen Hanna and Cathy McKernan.Despite the fact that it had a giveaway title "Who Killed My Husband?" which provided viewers an idea of what to expect,it was at least above average in the sense that the story had created lots of tension especially when Sophie was in CyberCash. The criminals and the activities took time for the viewers to know or guess. The realization of everything came somewhat a surprise especially when Sophie was explaining to Angela everything at the conclusion.

I also would like to give credit Andrea Bowen for a good performance. Her depression over Dough although I felt was somewhat prolonged in the initial scenes did not really become too melodramatic to the point that would turn off the viewers.Anja Savcic also provided a lot of charm especially for the female loving viewers.Overall,it was an enjoyable TV movie and would have been better had it stuck to its initial title "Under Fire" instead of the its giveaway title.

Andrea Bowen together with Yasmeene Ball, Jim Thorburn and the beauteous Anja Savcic star in this television film known as "Who Killed My Husband?".

Director David Winning tells a story of a detective named Sophie, who happens to be on light duty, suffering from a tragedy after her detective husband got killed on the line of duty. This led her to become a full-time detective once again and take care of her stepdaughter Chloe, who happens to be asthmatic. In the process, she gets assigned to a tech company that her late husband who she unknowingly was investigating and got justice for his murder after she was able to bring culprits down.

No question that we get an interesting story despite the fact that the title provides the viewer an idea of what the story will be all about.Added to that,we also get to identify the criminals basically at the conclusion considering that everyone in the company was suspicious. The showdown between Sophie and Anja Savcic's character Angela was definitely fun and entertaining.Overall,it was an enjoyable TV movie mystery.

With a title like "Who Killed My Husband?" there should be no surprise by the opening incident in this story. The doomed man goes off to buy a birthday cake for his pretty 14-year-old daughter Yasmeene Ball (as Chloe Howell). By the way, she has asthma. That might figure in the plot, later. At the same time Ms. Ball's off-duty detective dad is picking up her birthday cake, there is a robbery at the bakery. A thief, wearing a way-too-bright blue hoodie, commits the dirty deed. Hopefully the thief's escape route was rife with bright blue buildings because thieves don't usually like to wear easily identifiable clothing. They wouldn't let a kidnap victim have an iPad to play with, either...

Three months later, the deceased detective's blonde widow Andrea Bowen (as Sophie) gets tired in her desk job. Also a police detective, Ms. Bowen takes an undercover assignment which connects everything, but puts her life in danger. Her step-daughter is also threatened. As you might recall, she has asthma. This story is odd in that there really isn't a big moment when Ms. Bowen decides the wheels of justice are moving too slow and sets out to discover "Who Killed My Husband?" for herself. The title is not appropriate and she matter-of-factly discovers what happened. The cast and director David Winning are sneaky, but not enough. Bowen's lead performance is a nicely rendered.

The husband of a husband-wife police team is killed in a supposed bakery robbery. She goes undercover and soon discovers that the killing, during a bakery robbery, was related to his last investigation.

We have a strong story line here about a woman dealing with the loss of her husband and taking care of a very sick step-daughter, an asthmatic, who requires surgery to overcome her affliction.

A number of people in the firm are suspect and when the owner of the firm is killed in a car bombing, all hell breaks loose. Wait until you see who were the bad people here and they were having an affair to the bargain.

    A taut, interesting thriller.

Now I have to write a certain amount of lines about one of the lamest movies where EVERY actor was diabolical and the writing was worse!

The lead actress was cringing to watch. She had no normal reactions or responses to anything.

The ending was worse. She couldn't hold a gun properly, the way she hit the man was cartoonish. Lol. And she kept running around like a headless chicken with no sense of direction!!

It was pathetic and hard to watch.

The movie has been described by others, so I'll just comment on how laughable parts of it were. This allows it to rate high on my Lifetime movie scale and low on my real movie scale. Seriously, this movie is so cheesy it should have been made in Wisconsin.

Doug, who is clearly the Lifetime Good Guy™ (LGG) is ganked by a gun thug at a bakery who then ganks the clerk. Body count: 2. The gun thug, who is clearly the Lifetime Bad Dude™ (LBD) followed the LGG and his police partner Andrew there in an SUV. The LGG and Andrew are typical incompetent Lifetime cops and don't spot the tail, which somehow manages to stay with them even after they use lights and sirens to drive to the bakery. The LGG has a loaf of bread on the cake box at the bakery, and it along with the cake box and even his body are all in various places depending on the scene. He comes in one door and is going out the other when shot, and Andrew, who presumably heard the shots, also comes in the door that is further away. There are gun errors here as well but not enough words available to list them.

Plot giveaway here- the LBD's face is shown as he is in the bakery, and he is a main character.

Then there are character errors. Captain Van Dyke (CVD, don't remember his name, naming him via facial hair) tells widow and Lifetime Heroine™ (LH) Sophie it was an attempted robbery and there was no forensic evidence. Hello? The LBD cleaned out the register and completed the robbery. There were two shell casings and the LBD was hit by the LGG's single round (blood evidence?), although in yet another error there was no hole in his hoodie after he was shot and no other mention made of him being shot.

The LH is first seen in police uniform wearing her name tag on her left side, and then someone in costuming wakes up and realizes her badge was supposed to be there, so it is for subsequent scenes.

The LGG and LH like many Lifetime folks live in Washington State, even though his mail has a Miami Florida ZIP code. Their mail for some reason has Canadian postal markings on it, eh? No family in a Lifetime movie would be complete without a Rebellious Teen™ (RT) and this one is no exception, with Chloe the LH's step daughter.

Believe it or not, that was only the first 15 minutes.

Further fun is seen when the body count climbs to 3: A guy gets into a generic Volvo crossover and is blown up by the LBD. Well sort of, as the car was entirely intact when the low-quality CGI flames were added. CVD says it may have been an accident since he was a young guy with a nice car. You know those crazy kids, hot rodding around in a 4 cylinder Volvo crossover. Another case of no forensics no doubt, it's not like they could tell the difference between the use of explosives and a car accident.

With around 30 minutes or so remaining, things pick up as CVD magically turns up at a warehouse despite no information having led him there. He was in a Ford Crown Victoria when he talked to the widow, who gave him zero information, and arrives at the warehouse in a Chevy Impala convertible.

CVD overhears the LBD and some other dude making a big cash transaction. He is ganked outside by the LBD. Body count: 4. The LH meanwhile knows where CVD was and pulls up after he is shot. We finally get a female in jeopardy here as they exchange gunfire and both miss. A car chase is on in the Tardis-style parking lot- it is larger on the inside than the outside. The LBD crashes into some empty boxes and disappears. Even though it took the LH some time to drive from the hospital to the warehouse, the LBD gets to the hospital on foot in record time. Dude needs to enter a marathon if he survives the movie.

The LH doesn't bother with calling for help, instead trying to call her mother-in-law at the hospital. The LBD has kidnapped the RT. The LH busts into the now empty hospital with gun in hand and gets some info from the PI that mom-in-law had knocked out with a bedpan. The LH finally does something that is plausible and tracks the RT's iPad. The RT gets free and is rescued by the LH, who FINALLY calls dispatch for help for herself and CVD, who is probably by now being picked clean by vultures. The RT is again kidnapped and as usual the LBD opts to talk and not shoot even though he could have ganked the LH and RT with 11 minutes to spare. The RT fakes an asthma attack and the now-kindly LBD is going to give her the puffer. The LH, who is now a kung fu master fighter, knocks him down and disarms him. That was the funniest scene int he entire movie. In a twist, we have a Lifetime Bad Girl™ (LBG) turn up, and it's a Mexican standoff via two chicks with guns. +1 Lifetime point. Instead, the LBG ganks the LBD. Body count: 5. Of course the LH doesn't use this opening to shoot the LBG. PI dude beats the cops there and shoots the gun out of her hand.

In the ending sunny day scene 8 months later it's the RT's 15th birthday, the LBG got life in prison, the RT got a dog, and everyone is happy.

Truly a low budget effort that was an enjoyable error/cheese fest.

Real movie score: 1/10 (higher is better). Lifetime movie score: 8/10 (higher is stupider).
