The last intact orange orchard in Orange County, California, is set to be demolished unless the Old Orchard Conservancy can stop it.
The orchard is shown, dying and falling apart. Jeannie Gillett is at a grave, placing flowers on the headstone. Now in her home, she introduces herself as the president of the Old Orchard Conservancy, which is fighting to preserve a historical orchard in Orange County. She describes the history of the orchard. It was built over a hundred years ago by the Sexlinger Family. The two daughters remained on the property for the remainder of their lives, caring for the orchard. The youngest, Martha, recently passed away in 2006. The schools that now own the orchard have been planning on tearing it down and replace it with a housing development. However, the Old Orchard Conservancy was formed three years ago and stepped in to fight the schools. The conservancy proposed a project that would help revive the orchard.
