In the wake of Idi Amin's reign of terror, Bena and Indra Patel seek refuge and a new life in Canada. Needing money to feed their family, Bena ventures into the Farmer's Market with her delicious homemade samosas. The townspeople are not ready to accept this woman who looks so different in their very white world. They are suspicious of her and her food. Bena does not give up.
