» » Laboratorium Dextera Rude Removal (1996–2003)

Short summary

When Dexter creates a new invention to get DeeDee's rudeness under control, her foolish antics cause both her and Dexter to end up in the machine, resulting in them becoming polite, and their rude, evil counterparts being made. Now, the polite Dexter and DeeDee must find a way to rid of the disrespectful clones of themselves before they cause even more trouble.

Cartoon Network had to ban and reject this episode due to the characters swearing, even though the swear words were censored.

This was an in-house "Dexter's Laboratory" short, which was un-aired because it's "not for kids". It was shown once, in The Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention, where Genndy made an appearance.

This episode is famous for its excessive use of profanity.

Adult Swim released the episode on YouTube almost 15 years after its intended airing on July 12, 1998 and they also censored all the bad words.

The episode contains two cultural stereotypes throughout the episode: Rude Dexter and Dee-Dee have New York City accents and Nice Dexter and Nice Dee-Dee have English accents.

There is an unaired episode called "Dexter's Rude Removal" which is apparently not suitable for children due to its extreme use of curses. It has been shown at comic conventions and in private. As of December 3rd, 2012, Adult Swim has told its viewers that they had received a copy of the episode to air online (as it is still too inappropriate for TV). Adult Swim finally aired this episode during their block on TV and on their YouTube channel on January 22, 2013.

The reputation of Dexter and Dee Dee was ruined by their rude copies.

Dad does not appear in this episode.

Dexter does not tell to his mom who have invented a Rude Removal System in his secret laboratory in this episode, but in the episode "The Parrot Trap", he had telled to his parents who have invented a robot parrot in his secret laboratory when accidentally reveals.

The episode contains two cultural stereotypes throughout the episode: Rude Dexter and Dee Dee have New York City accents and Nice Dexter and Nice Dee Dee have English accents. Despite being produced in 1997, this is the only episode to air after Ego Trip, to use traditional cel animation.

Mom makes a reference to the food brand Betty Crocker, which is a food brand that specializes in confectionaries

Contrary to popular belief, this wasn't actually meant for airing. It was made for "private conversations."

At the beginning Dee Dee asks Dexter if he's going to make another remote control that turns people into animals, this is a reference to the pilot episode "Changes."

When Rude Dee Dee says "Beats that crap out of me," the word "crap" is censored. However, in "Dexter Dodgeball", the word is not censored when the coach says it.

The same sound that is made when Rude Dexter and Rude Dee Dee are first introduced, is heard in the episode "That Crazy Robot".

Mom tells absolutely not to Dexter not have any dessert. Similar to the episode "Hunger Strikes" when Mom forbids Dexter to want dessert for not eating single vegetables (only peas).

At last, the long lost Dexter short is here! In this cartoon, Dexter has become fed up with Dee Dee's rudeness, and has invented a machine that extracts people's rudeness from them. However, due to Dee Dee's usual shenanigans, both her AND Dexter get accidentally tossed into the machine. Their rudeness is extracted and creates two alternate versions of themselves - A good and polite Dexter and Dee Dee, and a bad and rude Dexter and Dee Dee. The rude versions swear, are selfish and are just rude in general. One of the funniest points is when rude Dexter tells polite Dexter "Eh, f!ck off!" Its so sudden and abrupt. They also terrorize their Mom which results in a very funny scene. Based on the animation and art style, it looks as if it were produced near the end of Season 1, or the beginning of Season 2. To sum up, this short was much better than I expected. I highly recommend it to fans of Dexter's Lab and witty animation!

Now this episode was extremely anticipated and notorious to see! I remember finding about this short on Wikipedia about a few years back and I never really thought it would ever be released because there wasn't any kinds of signs that Genndy would show this yet. But then finally last year we were finally able to see it for the first time online!

OK so how was it? Well Dexter's Lab used to be one of my favorite cartoons when I was younger and I never expected this episode to be produced. But then this episode is really good, not only classic but both hilarious and a bit more original. What do I mean with original? Well remember the "Spongebob Squarepants" episode "Sailor Mouth"? Now I believe that episode wasn't the first one to use excessive strong language with censors to entertain people. The censor here on "Rude Removal" uses the normal bleeping and it even makes it more funnier.

Although I have to admit that I was also quite shocked to see how there was an episode to use strong language and it left me with questions. But that doesn't mean that I thought this episode was annoying to look at. The lost episode is fun to watch and I would recommend any Dexter's Lab fans to see it.

Just because this is a "Dexter's Laboratory" episode, do not let it fool you. This is a disgusting, foul-mouthed, offensive disgrace disguised as it and I am shocked that Genndy Tartakovsky had the nerve to even make this thing. It feels like a horrible "Robot Chicken" skit, (don't get me started on THAT show), and "Family Guy" rolled into one. Don't get me started on "that" show, either. I know that this was an in-house project created as a gag for the real "Dexter's Lab," but I'm not giving this piece of garbage any excuses. It is absolutely terrible. Even its title card is revolting to look at. When I first saw the title card while watching it on YouTube, I was beyond outraged. The whole short is a complete, utter mess, with stereotypical, unfunny jokes, and a ridiculous amount of swearing. Thank goodness, it is bleeped out. Leonardo DiCaprio's "Titanic" is more child-friendly than this.

I don't care if "Rude Removal" is a "Dexter" short. In my personal opinion, it should have never been made or brought to television. It should have been thrown into the garbage where it belongs.

Rating: 1/10. (Like "Fritz the Cat," it doesn't deserve a chance).
