It's a beautiful day and Sparkles & William are playing out in the garden. They hear a noise and, when they investigate, they find their friend Buttons the Clown sitting on the ground feeling decidedly unfunny. Buttons is terribly sad because he has lost his Funny-Bone, and without it, his sense of humor has gone too. "What good is a clown who can't make people laugh?" Sparkles and William try everything they can think of to restore Buttons' sense of humor - jokes, song & dance, silly props, even the 'All-Purpose, Slap-Happy, Silly Spell' - but nothing seems to work.
