Short summary

Simple herdsman Paris is stunned when the Greek deities ask him to choose the most beautiful of three goddesses. Denied his promised prize he travels to Troy, where king Priam identifies him as his long-lost son Alexander. His sister Cassandra is less welcoming, foretelling disaster and 'black blood' but Priam sends the young man to Sparta to make an alliance with its ruler Menelaus by marrying his teen-aged daughter Hermione. Paris, however, finds himself drawn to Menelaus's unhappy wife Helen, believing her to be the prize offered by the gods, and asks her to leave with him but she refuses.

It is often said that you have to get your audience by the scruff of the neck in the first 15 minutes of the first episode of a new series. Audiences are willing to give a new show a try.

Troy sends you into a coma in the first 15 minutes. They will not return for episode 2. It is a dud.

Troy: Fall of a City wants to be the BBC version of Games of Thrones. It does titillate you with some nudity and I think they have promised some violence. However they will need to wake up the audience first.

We follow our hero Paris (Louis Hunter) a young herdsman who encounters the gods as he finds out that he is the long lost son of King Priam. He embarks on a journey where he visits Sparta, gets enchanted with Helen of Troy (Bella Dayne) and her husband King Menelaus, who mentions a strategic marriage to one of his daughter's. Paris who here is a little rough around the edges sleeps with Helen.

This will not end well. Both for the people of Troy and the BBC. Another seven episodes to go.
