Backed by a gangster, Monty Miller runs a string of gymnasiums. When his most important promotion man for the gyms, Herb "Hercules" Troy tells Monty he's quitting, Monty is furious. Herb's old friend who he served with in the Korean War, Dr. Bill Kirk, has offered Herb a good job. The good doctor has a wild sister who Herb falls for, much to the doctor's chagrin. The doctor is beaten up by a couple of thugs and he goes to Shayne asking him to investigate. Two murders follow and Herb is the obvious suspect. There is a good bit of classic detective work in this episode and a couple of interesting and surprising twists. Of particular interest is that the conniving sister, Louise, is played by Pat Crowley; this is an out-of-type character for her and she did a dandy job with the role. I most remember Pat Crowley from the sitcom "Please Don't Eat the Daisies."
