I have always had a great respect for this brilliant aircraft and thoroughly appreciated this documentary from the plane's early concept after the second world war until it came into service in the late 60's.

In 1982 it proved itself admirably in the Falklands War and no planes were lost in aerial combat. It also played a major role in the 1991 Gulf War in support of ground troops.

Further development makes it faster than before and costs considerably less to build than other fighter planes. It remains an extremely versatile airplane and is still unbelievable to see taking off and landing vertically, hovering about or standing still in midair. It gives one visions of an alien spacecraft!

Hopefully this craft will remain in service for many years to come.
