Short summary

Elimination-type Q&A quiz.
Four players are asked a series of questions. Each question has three possible answers, the last of which is always "None of the above." The players have three seconds to lock in their guess with the corresponding button on their podium. As many questions are asked as time permits, usually 20 to 25. At the end of the round, the Inquizitor gives out a severe tongue-lashing to the player with the fewest correct answers, and that player is eliminated from the game. The scores are reset to start each new round, and play continues in this matter until only one player remains. The winner receives $500.

The Inquizitor stayed in the shadows so you never saw his face, and I have a nagging suspicion, that "Weakest Link" is a direct steal of this show -- including the snappy remarks from the host. The more I watched this show, the more I kept thinking that voice is too familiar, that I've heard it before. Then, it hits me: the character of Pete Walker, the crime syndicate boss on "Young & Restless" in 1982-1983. The actor: William H. Bassett. He is also Prince Charming in a "Bewitched" episode, and he is also the Leasing Agent in "Towering Inferno," as he said, "No, no, no, the offices go as high as 80. From the 81st floor here, all the way up to 120, it's exclusively residential. Now, the apartment I want to show you is 81 -- " his voice fades away as we go into the storage room. The next time you watch that scene, think of the Inquizitor, and say to yourself, "Do the voices match?"

I really think this show was good. I always watched it. The thing I dislike it that you only win 500 dollars. That is a very small amount. On the show, Cram, the losers win $500 just for trying. I wish I knew who the Inquizitor was though....

Before the "Weakest Link" came to the US With Anne Robinson and George Gray, another host gave tongue lashings to the contestants. The inquizitor's identity is unknown, and his face was never shown.

His cruel words made Anne and George seem nice.

He would yell, "PLEASE LEAVE NOW!" to all losing contestants.

The game went a little like this:

Four contestants would simultaneously punch in which answer they thought was correct. All questions were multiple guess, with "C" always being "none of the above". The person with the lowest score would be eliminated. Winner got $500.

This man was suck a snob, he made Alex Trebek look like a first grade teacher. The good moments of this half hour quiz show were when the contestants knew they were being jerked around and decided to goof off. I remember one contestant who shall we say used his middle finger to scratch his forehead. I still wonder who the host was though.
