Short summary
Your host Sofie Thornton takes the viewers on a trip around a Swedish town in America started by Swedish immigrant rail road workers. She also shows the viewers a Swedish festival and takes the viewers around the town showing them the different monument's to Swedish history and explains the history behind them.Sofie also explains the Lutheran religion in Sweden and how the town practices it. Along the way there is great authentic Swedish music and Sofie sings the title song to the documentary called " Little Scandinavian Village " all in Swedish.
Kingsburg was started by Swedish immigrant rail road workers and has also been known by other names such as Little Swedish village, A Little bit of Sweden in the desert, The Holy City and Kings River Switch. The actor Slim Pickins is from Kingsburg. Kingsburg is the home of the world famous Sun Maid raisins, which was started as a farmers collective by Swedish immigrant farmers.
