Short summary

On a Friday evening two men played by the comical duo 'Badesalz' get stuck in an elevator of a skyscraper. As there is no hope of being rescued during the weekend they try to divert themselves by letting go their fantasies on a journey. They appear as their famous couples Rita and Helga - the cashiers at the supermarket, Richie and Headbanger - the rockers, as typical Bavarians, as Eskimos and others.

A must for everybody who lived in Germany and is able to understand the strong dialect. Translated into English it would come pretty close to "Little Britain" or "Royston Vasey". "Badesalz" are known for their absurd dialogues. The story builds around two people caught in an broken elevator late Friday afternoon. An absurd firework of gags pinpointing the common prejudice, bad behaviour and funny ? attitudes deploys. The characters featured in the many little episodes forming the big film will be well known to Badesalz-lovers, but they are nevertheless highly enjoyable.

Only suitable for those who like the Monthy Pythons and Little Britain.

Only advised to German speaking people, and for the people lived in Germany knowing typically German point of view. The film consisted of little stories which very intelligently forming the whole story. In which two totally different men accidentally meet in a lift and the lift is broken down. It is Friday and there is no hope to get out. Richard, who has already been a long time in the lift and already lost his connection to real life , supposedly had been the same type of man like his new guest: yuppie, business oriented suffering shortness of time Erich and the dialogs between them is the main story. The film ironically criticizes near the whole German life in a very luscious and intelligent manner. The dialogs are nearly all in a heavy hessisch dialect, and the last point, the more you watch the film the more interesting it gets. I myself have seen it at least 5 times until I nearly memorized the dialogs. A must see for the all foreigners lived in Germany.

It is nothing unusual for German comedians to star in a movie playing the characters they also play on stage. Otto Waalkes has done it, Ausbilder Schmidt, Atze Schröder, Mario Barth as well as Erkan & Stefan have done it too. But most of them all came considerably later than Hessian comedy duo Badesalz. The fact that this film has its 20th anniversary this year shows you how long they are in the industry already, plus back then they were probably a lot more famous than they are today. Sadly, this film here is not working at all in their favor. I give them a thumbs-up for writing the sketches too, but that's all the positive I can say. The biggest problem is that it is rarely a funny watch, unless you're from Hessia yourself perhaps. In my opinion, the accent got pretty annoying quickly. And there is another problem. The elevator scenes are supposed to be some kind of plot from start to finish, but it's all just make believe. This is not a film, this is just a collection of comedic sketches that have no connection whatsoever with each other. I cannot comment on how good Badesalz may or may not be on stage. I guess it says a lot positive about them to still exist and still get people to buy their tickets, but in terms of film actors here, their approach is completely lost on me. I do not recommend watching "Abbuzze!" Thumbs down.
