After many grueling trials, Yoda next travels to the ancient Sith home world of Moraband, where he must face an ancient evil determined to rule the galaxy.

Darth Bane is voiced by Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy and in Episodes VII and VIII. Hamill had expressed interest in working on the show before, but Dave Filoni felt he could only use him if the role was worthy enough. This part fit the bill, as Darth Bane was the creator of the Sith Rule of Two and Luke Skywalker the one who brought the last Sith back to the light.

Mark Hamill recorded his lines as Darth Bane twice, in two different voices. These were then layered on top of one another by sound editors Matthew Wood and David Acord by the instructions of voice director Dave Filoni.

There are several references to Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005). Anakin decapitates Count Dooku, Yoda confronts Darth Sidious, and the coming of another Skywalker.

In the Star Wars video games and novels, the original homeworld of the Sith is named Korriban. In this episode and the previous one, it is named Moraband.

At the end of the episode, you can hear the synthetic breathing of Darth Vader.
