Short summary
SHMovieCritic was originally going to be a movie review channel but was ultimately changed 6 months later after its creation. The reason for this was the release of the first nonsensical video called "Me, Myself and I" which inspired Jacob and Shawn to make more videos like it.
Jacob has stated that he doesn't remember making the "Greatest Adventure" videos and gets upset whenever he looks back on them. He has stated "I was depressed when I made those. I don't know what the hell I was thinking. They don't mean anything."
The "explosion" sound at the end of the video "THE FAILURES OF GTA IV" was supposed to be louder. Jacob has stated that he has never gotten over how bad it turned out.
"THE WAR OF WARS" was the single only video (besides "HELP") that featured Austin and Colton Perdue. They were kicked out of the house shortly after the video's release.
"GM3" was originally going to have a sequel to it known as "GMB 4: Parts 1 and 2" but was shelved due to Jacob deeming it as "A bad idea" and "hated his script" moments after he finished and looked back on it. Him and his brother have also stated that they've "outgrown" making GMB movies. Jacob has further commented that "GM3 is the best movie I think we've ever made, and I don't think I could top it by making another sequel."
"POP-A-SQUAT" was the first version of "John Cena Suck Show: Season 4, Episode 1" before being released again in its original state 18 months later.
"Only because it works" was created from a comment (by someone with the YouTube username "QuartrGuy") on an AVGN video using the popular CSI Investigation show joke.
"METAL GEAR SOLID: SHAWN EATER" was originally intended to be a full-length movie but a plot could never be established and thus, the first and only scene remains as the official movie in a whole.
"Somebody" was originally intended to be a true sequel to Nobody but instead turned out to be a joke sequel. The loud and abrupt ending wasn't thought of until the very last second.
"Max Payne 4: The Movie: The Trailer: The Game" was originally going to have Shawn play as Max Payne, but was instead replaced with Sammy.
"The Clapping House" is the only video with another followup video that has outtakes from it.
"The Whitest Kids U' DON'T Know" was originally going to have an alternate title and be a semi-documentary about Shawn and Sammy and the status of their current everyday lives but this was changed near the end of filming.
"shawn.exe" was a test used to try out the director's new handmade synthesizer music.
"Shawn vs. Sammy... 3?" was originally going to have music made by the director himself but difficulties in recording caused the director to change the music entirely.
"Shawn vs. Sammy 2: Embodiment of Evil" was originally going to have Shawn and Sammy battle with real light sabers. The rotoscoping was nearly 70% done until the director realized he couldn't find proper sounding light saber effects anywhere that were crisp and clear and didn't contain sounds from the Star Wars movies. Thus, the effects of the sabers were removed. Shawn and Jake further commented that "the light saber sounds could've taken a lot away from the music, plus it's funnier to see two morons battle each other with sticks and pretend to act serious about it."
"1955 Polio Documentary" originally had a giant meteor falling on Shawn as soon as he stepped down from the Church stairs. However, it was far too dark to show Shawn getting smashed and the sounds of him screaming in the dark were overlaid with sounds from Alien vs. Predator and a lion's roar.
"Shawn vs. Sammy (remastered)" originally had no muzzle flares or binocular effects.
"Job problems" was originally going to be a Sims parody titled "The Slims 3" but was changed almost immediately after filming the mailbox scene.
The character Anne Adler from "GM3" is a direct reference to Guns N' Roses' former drummer Steven Adler.
