Short summary

Sometimes you want to be alone. Sometimes your passion for your work takes over your whole life and you leave your friends a billion miles away. If you start to miss home, you have to hope you can still communicate...And sometimes you don't miss what matters most to you until its too late. Are you There? is a classic retro-style Science fiction film inspired by Solaris, STALKER, 2001, The Andromeda Strain. A short movie where the character and story are more important than the visual effects, where the audience is able to project their own psychology onto the screen. We are on Third Earth. We have blown two chances to look after our home. Original Earth is now a restricted area, visited only by archaeologists who study it for its remnants of Original Earth society, much like we study Pompeii or ancient Greece. One keen young archaeologist wants one of the coveted Earth study posts. If he gets it he'll be alone, with contact only possible for two minute every 14 months or so. He cuts ...

Tom Watson wrote, directed, filmed, edited, created the sound design and composed the music for the short film.

The film was inspired by the main location, Annaverna Mountain in County Louth, Ireland. Claremont Cairn, a 4,000 year old neolithic grave is situated on top of the mountain, alongside the transmitter.

The film was styled after 1970s science fiction films such as "The Andromeda Strain" and Solaris and STALKER by Andrei Tarkovsky.

The harp tune at the end of the film was played by Northern Ireland professional harpist Sharon Carroll, who plays Dean Harper in the film - and that's also why the character is called "Dean Harper."

The blue drink is a homage to the famous blue milk in "Star Wars - A New Hope."
