Julia finds herself on the edge of a precipice-as a daughter of an award-winning journalist following her father's footstep, Julia is on the brim of being fired due to poor performance on a series of writing assignments, and her relationship with her boyfriend David seems to reach a bottleneck. A good opportunity knocks on Julia's door just at the right time-coming across a pile of files labeled as "The Miracle Archives," Julia plans on examining the authenticity of these cases to hopefully dig out some possible scientific explanations for these occurrences as a way to disprove that these cases are not miracles after all. She proposes this idea to her boss, Mr. Leyton. Mr. Leyton does give Julia a green light on the proposal with a side note-if Julia presents a phenomenal article, she can keep her job, but if she does, he will have no problem firing Julia.
