Short summary
The corridor fight scene is a homage to both Oldeuboi (2003) and the remake Oldboy (2013).
The Claire Temple character is a loose adaptation of the character from the short-lived 1970s Marvel comic "Night Nurse." Currently, that title is also the unofficial moniker of a Marvel medical practitioner character in New York City who provides clandestine medical care for the city's superheroes on the understanding that she will respect their secret identities.
Not knowing Matt's name, Claire names him Mike. In the original comics during a period in the 60's to protect his secret identity Matt pretended to be his non existent, sighted, twin brother called Mike Murdock and claim he was the real Daredevil.
Matt's father faces Carl "Crusher" Creel, which is the name of the villain Absorbing Man. This character also appeared in episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Nurse Claire Temple was the love interest of Hero for Hire Luke Cage during the original Power Man comic series in the 70's.
When the young Matt opens the med kit to patch up his father after one of his boxing-matches, a deck of cards can be seen, with the ace of spades on the top. In the comics the villain called Bullseye, Daredevil's greatest nemesis - even rivaling Daredevil's enmity with Wilson Fisk - often uses a deck of cards as throwing-weapons, the ace of spades being his signature.
When Clare expresses her skepticism of Matt's methods on the roof of her building, he tells her not to give in to the fear. Matt's full hero pseudonym, is "Daredevil: The Man without Fear."
The song Foggy is singing in the office scene with Karen is "Pour, Oh Pour the Pirate Sherry" from Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance.
Karen mentions that she and Foggy are the same age. In real life, Deborah Ann Woll is about eight years younger than Elden Henson.
The final fight scene was shot in a single camera shot. The camera is hanging from the ceiling, and it can be seen wobbling slightly at the end of the scene (just before the credits roll).
