John Landers is sent to the drug store by his bedridden wife for some medicine. The druggist refuses him credit. Returning home his wife presents him with a letter from her brother in which he enclosed a check for fifty dollars. Landers is induced by Whiskey Bill Tate to gamble his money, which he does and loses. The stranger to whom he had lost the money tries to prevent Landers from shooting him. The shot is fired and Little Mary, Landers' daughter, is the target, just as she is about to enter the saloon in search of her father. The child is taken to her home and medical attention is given her. The stranger, realizing how much the money would mean to Landers now, leaves a note with the cash, advising that it is for the child and for the father to start life anew. Months later we see Landers and his family leading a new and happy life as the result of the stranger cowboy Samaritan.

This offering appealed to the audience and will appeal to every audience as a whole. It is one of those pictures of sentiment that one is apt to like without admiring wholly as a great work of art. It is very well acted by all in the cast and has a child in whom the interest centers. - The Moving Picture World, December 6, 1913
