I turned on Fastest Car to just see some drag races, but what I found was the most moving back stories of sleeper car enthusiasts and their families. By the the time they finally got round to race at the end of each episode I was so invested in them emotionally (and dying to know which car will win!). What a great show, here's hoping for a second season.

Definitely a really well done show. There's a lot of focus on the people behind the cars- their motivations, back story, and what they hope to accomplish from the race. You get to learn a little bit about the cars and what's under the hood, but it's not just about trying to match up cars with known quarter mile times and racing against a supercar that also has a known quarter mile time. That certainly wouldn't be good TV. Instead, it's about drivers, their sleeper cars, and stories about real people.

I enjoy fact that the supercar drivers aren't just "rich assholes" looking for kicks. They have their own stories as well, and the contrast with the sleeper car drivers is certainly interesting.

It's not about the race. It's about the people and their cars. Each episode introduces us to four new drivers (plus friends and family). The show is about their stories, which unfold as they prepare their cars for a 10 second drag race; three sleepers (souped-up piles of junk) against one bona fide supercar. The people and the cars are what the show is about. The race is just how each episode ends. If you want to watch racing, pick a different show.

In the first episode the rule was that if a driver had a false start they re-started the race. The show started losing my interest when in episode 4 (King of the World) I really wanted to see how the cars performed but 2 cars false started so only 2 cars competed and there was no restart (the rules had changed), but wheres the fun in that when the whole episode follows the story of 4 drivers.

Also, the supercars have their stats referred to, e.g. "this car can do a 10.2sec quarter mile", but for the actual race there is no clock so who knows if any of the cars are actually performing well or with amateur drivers perhaps they are all running 13sec quarter miles.

Racing is hard on the cars so perhaps all the sleeper cars can handle is one race, maybe that's why the rules changed, because the cars can't handle 2 starts?

When the sleeper drivers read the quarter mile fastest time for the supercar they all say they can beat the supercar but often they don't, so I wonder if the sleeper drivers ever had any clue about how fast they could drive a quarter mile.

It's a good show but after a few episodes the flaws I've mentioned start becoming annoying and take away from the excitement of the race.

I would rate the show higher if they made some improvements to race day.

Loved this show, watched it all in one day. The only downside was the false starts in some of the races but nevertheless very entertaining. Can't wait for season 2!

Watched first 3 episodes, any besides the blatant and obvious American dramatisation of the stories of the drivers, I found it very entertaining and fun. Get to the 4th episode and all of a sudden the rules of the drag races change. Watch for yourself, its extremely frustrating and I won't be watching any more.

Its a nice idea. Three sleepers against a Supercar in a 7-day build-up to a 4-car quarter mile drag race. There are some great (and surprising) cars, clever engineering, and the determined persistence of the participants to get that last drop of power to deliver on the day. However, the producers wring every bit of tear-jerking blah-yak out of the back stories, which makes for really painful viewing and keeps the skip button within thumbs reach. I'd like to see the same concept of program in a more serious form, that goes beyond this quasi-reality/drama genre of programming. There are exceptions, but be prepared, the majority of the Supercar drivers in the episodes are the most obnoxious, OTT, excessive characters I have had the misfortune to watch. I hope the concept gets re-hashed at some time in the future into a more palatable viewing experience.

Spend 90% of the show talking about the people who build the cars, don't show them working on them much if at all, and then a 30 second race at the end. Was sort of hoping this would have more racing and putting cars together

I loved how in the last episode when the Lambo won, all the other guys stand there with their dicks in their hand talking about how toy could've beaten it and they could have done a 1000 different things to beat him, then do it instead of crying about it. 'If I had 4-wheel I could definitely have beaten the Lambo'

This car show could be really cool if they were required to build cars from the ground-up with a set budget or something like the such. However getting rich guys with exotic cars to race up against people who have put blood, sweat, and tears into the cars... It just doesn't work. Many of these cars are worth a fraction of what the exotics are worth, its just not a fair race.

Each episode is about 25 minutes of showing off each racer and 1 minute of actual race. Filler crap in between, something that could be a 10 minute youtube video at best.

I've seen the whole show, and as a car enthusiast I am very disapointed. The show is 100 percent staged. Every episode contains the same elements and conversations. The show is making drag racers seem stupid, like they don't know how fast their own car can do the 1/4 mile. I want to hear about the cars, not the drivers emotional lives. This is just a sad show period

I had my doubts, when I seen this show on Netflix - but the show shows a lot of promise. The issue is, that it seems that the producers weren't really petrolheads.

It starts with the selection of the drivers. Especially people who would drive the supercars could have been better selected. Yes - it is obvious that they were rather selected because they brought some drama and controversy to the show. But selecting mostly rich morons, showoffs and braggers really didn't worked well. Partly even the cars weren't selected that well (the final winner car - a "normal" Lamborghini Huracan is for sure not nearly the fastest supercar out there.

Second: the life-stories have been too long and emotional. It is great to understand the people, who were fixing and driving the cars - but it has been dragging, and a show half or even a third of the time would have been as deep and fulfilling. This also reduced the screen time of the real protagonists - the cars!

Last but not least, the rules were stupid. A single run, after nearly 45 minutes of "drama"? Human error, or issues with the cars which disqualified the participants or let them loose? This isn't right.

And anyway - a drag race is also not necessarily a great indication for the capabilities of the cars. Would have been cool to have more like a street race (legalized...).

In my eyes there were a lot of missed opportunities in this show - and a bit of better curation would make a really good show out of it.

Half the season involves false starts and technicalities where no one actually races a "super car". Wastes your time for 26 minutes, when back to back episodes the "supercar" fouls out. Some great characters but overall junk.

One glaring thing, the overconfident talk and stereotyping... One sleeper made a bunch of comments about the Lambo requiring soooooo much maintenance, meanwhile he was never not under the hood adding this or that... The other thing is that think no one expects a sleeper to perform, ummmmm I can hear the engine just like everyone one else, what would expect a car growling with drag or race tires to do???? I found it hilarious that the guy who was renting a Ferrari destroyed the overconfident sleeper... The overconfidence doesn't apply to all sleepers nor the supercar drivers... Decent show, all things considered...
