» » Night Court Leon, We Hardly Knew Ye (1984–1992)

Short summary

Leon threatens to run away again when Juvenile Services attempts to take him from Harry and place him with a pair of geeky foster parents. Harry is so preoccupied that he misses a visit by Mel Torme, his idol.

Mel Tormé recorded a rendition of "Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues" especially for this episode.

The title is based on the song "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye" a popular Irish traditional anti-war and anti-recruiting song.

When Leon asks Harry for money to see a movie, one of the films he wants to see is "I Dismember Mama". There really is such a film. Its title spoofs the title of the play "I Remember Mama". (The other film Leon wants to see is "Massacre at Hacksaw High". The closest title to a match is "Massacre at Central High".)
