Short summary

Months after Damon and Enzo mysteriously vanished from the Armory vault, Stefan tirelessly pushes forward with their search, while Bonnie struggles holding onto hope that they will be found. Meanwhile, a dangerous encounter with an unexpected visitor leaves Caroline and Alaric fearing that someone - or something - may be targeting their family. Finally, after following some mysterious clues, Stefan realizes that whatever has a hold of his brother may have a more damaging grip over him than he could have ever imagined.

"Hello Brother" is a line said by Damon at the end of the first episode in season one. It is incidentally Damon's first line of dialogue of in the series.

All of the episode titles in season 8 are lines that were said in season 1.

This is the last season premiere of the series.

Damon is seen reading "Fifty Shades of Grey." Ian Somerhalder launched a social media campaign for the role and fans voted strongly for him to play Christian Grey in the movie. The role instead went to Jamie Dornan.

This is the second season premiere not to feature Elena.

The scene opens with a couple in a car discussing the events of a superhero movie they have seen before they are stopped by a man standing in the middle of the road. This mimics the opening scene of the series premiere, with the couple instead coming home from a rock concert and discussing about the band.

Most people are aware the title of this episode "hello brother" is the first line Damon says in the series, but in this episode they recreate the classic scene, down to the music and exact camera angles

Stefan and Bonnie's discussion on hope and their switches in whether they believe Damon and Enzo can be saved are reminiscent of Damon and Elena's conversations about Stefan in the season 3 premier, The Birthday.

Well here it starts .. the beginning of the end .. the last 16 hours of a long 7 years.. and we're really gonna miss those vamps. So the plot is still attached to the last season Damon and Enzo are now possessed by that thing in the volt and starting a kill spree for "it" but "she" would had enough to eat at the end of the episode ???? ????

Again this season appeared that there would be no Elena "thank god for that"???????? but in a minute during she came back and i was like "ough" please no .. i don't know .. a i said before the show without her is more active and alive ,, she definitely deserve a place in the final season .. but still not now .. maybe in the last couple of episodes.

The show still in each episode have that element of mystery where it leaves always wonder about what just happened or who is that ... especially with bringing more new faces to the crew .. So bravo for the writers for always keeping us on the edge.

As for the cast .. i mean after all of these years it would be really hard to forget the faces of the Salvatore brothers, Bonnie the witch "fingers X she gets her magic back", Caroline, Enzo, Matt and Alaric and all the others from the last seasons.. they still have these captivating expressions and that engaging body language .. they will be all missed.

After this ends we will only have "The originals" left as a last taste of the vampires family so i hope they continue on their strong series and i wish we could see some characters from TVD on the Originals.. If you don't watch it ???????? ,, by the way.. i strongly recommend you start now.

finally .. I strongly sense there would be many shocking surprises this last season so buckle up guys for one last ride on the TVD train.
