Bosley's bridge partner, wealthy Claire Rossmore, has donated so much money, including the property that was her estate, to a psychic research institute over the past four years that it is now named after her. The Rossmore Institute is run by Dr. Douglas Holden, who Claire considers the preeminent researcher in this field. Claire started donating in the hope that Dr. Holden would be able to contact her nephew, Martin Faber, who died in a tragic motorcycle accident five years ago on what is now the institute's grounds. Claire had mentioned to Dr. Holden that she would only fund the institute for one more year unless he could contact Martin for her.
