Short summary

The massive three-lens Kinopanorama camera returns to the curved screen in this documentary, filmed in Moscow in the Summer of 1993. The first time that the camera had been used for commercial filming in three-decades.
This short-subject features footage which was shot in Moscow and at Sheremetyevo International Airport by a Russian crew, who were involved in the restoration of the PSO-1960 model Kinopanorama camera at NIKFI. John Steven Lasher, the producer, edited the footage together, wrote the tongue-in-cheek voiceover narration, which was recorded by Sven-Erik Libaek [Norwegian] and Greg Matthews, retired Australian cricketer. The film was screened [despite synchronization problems] at the Bradford Widescreen Festival.

Comments made by Det Danske Lort, T Hauerslev, are not only inaccurate for the most part, but also display a clear bias, not to mention an ongoing animus, towards myself. As I was at the screenings, I can vouch that the film images were projected on the curved screen on 2 separate occasions despite the lack of synchronization between the film and the soundtrack. Therefore, I wish to state for the record that Mr Hauerslev's comments are INACCURATE in the following respects: his statement that A-DAT soundtrack could not be played at the cinemas is pure fiction. The soundtrack was, in fact, played back, albeit completely out of sync with the film images. Despite this, the audience applauded the projection. The Bradford projectionists were harried, indeed, but not because of my particular film. There were ongoing problems with other films scheduled at the Widescreen weekend, a matter which T Hauerslev fails to take into account.

I have not seen the original 3-panel edition, which was exhibited at the annual Widescreen Festival at the National Museum in Bradford, England, in 1997. The soundtrack did not synchronize with the film because DAT-master was not time coded.

However, the camera negatives and multi-channel soundtrack exist and may someday be transferred to digital media. A VHS tape of the Bradford screening was saved, so it is possible to view this little gem under less than ideal conditions.
