Short summary

Dean and Willie are infiltrators in the crew of mafia boss Luke Santelli. But Willie is exposed and Dean sees how Willie is whacked by Santelli himself. Santelli gets convicted, but appeals. Dean is put into the witness protection program and is relocated to a remote cabin in the Sierras. Only accompanied by chickens, he gets bored quickly and wants out. FBI agent Hank calls in a personal favor from his friend Monica to keep Dean company in the cabin. While both seem to like each other more and more, Santelli's friends try to find out Dean's hiding spot.

I would almost be inclined to agree with the mainstream opinion of this film (that it sucks) if not for a few little things that I felt lifted it out of the muck and the mire.

Sure, it's a B-grade thriller with a less-than-inspired plot. That's fairly obvious and somewhat expected. However, what I didn't necessarily see coming were the standout performances by the two leads.

No one can play the likable everyman better than Peter Dobson, and no can play smart-and-sexy like Dina Meyer. And let me tell ya folks: together, they're dynamite. Okay, maybe that's too strong a word, but they are very good.

You put these two in a cabin in the woods, with the set-up of Meyer (an FBI agent) and Dobson (an ex-con) hiding away from the killers who want to take him out before he can testify on one of their killer buddies, and you can just sit back and watch the sparks fly.

So it's not a masterpiece. It's still very watchable, thanks in part to the good direction and cinematography. And unlike several so-called thrillers, there was a decent amount of suspense.

As it goes with anything I like, I would warn the movie snobs away from this one, but for all the B-fans, dig in.

This was a dull, unremarkable thriller about an ex con hidden away in a remote cabin in the mountains, while awaiting a court case where he is the star witness against the local mafia boss or whatever. Of course, the inevitable hitmen track him down. This has been done so many, many, many times and there was nothing in this film to lift it above the mediocre. In fact the poor wooden acting, the stilted direction and the absence of any thrills made it far worse than many of its ilk. Avoid at all costs. My rating 3/10.

Decent film not meant to be taken seriously.

The star of the film is mafia hit-man Walfredo (Francesco Quinn) who constantly talks about the old country(Italy) more specifically "Abruzzo".

He switches between Italian and English but everything he says is so funny with that heavy Italian accent.

The rest of the film is predictable, typical for a B-movie but most films are even latest big budget films.

There is no point talking about acting or directing just take what it offers.
