The Spanish phrase equivalent to moving forward embodies the objective and justifies the perilous sacrifices undocumented immigrants face. Marina has immigrated to the U.S. from Guatemala in an attempt to move forward after her husband committed adultery and abused her and her youngest son Rudy who was caught trying to defend his mother. Now in the U.S. for the past few difficult years, Marina's middle son, Daniel has come. When Daniel decides to return, Marina second guesses her decision to immigrate and must decide whether she will return to be with her family or stay in the U.S. moving forward with Rudy, who she worries about most because he was left traumatized from the events and recently tried to commit suicide.
