Mrs. Bridge, making preparations for the mask ball, is not in sympathy with her husband's predicament. He is suffering with a severe toothache. Dragged to the ball in his costume of a soldier he escapes early and, leaving the uniform at home, goes to a dentist. "Rats" Bridge dons his father's uniform and goes to the ball. Miss Dilly Dally, a coquette of considerable weight, resumes her attentions to the supposed Bridge, Sr., and starts a riot. Mrs. Bridge discovers the deception but it doesn't make her feel any more kindly toward her spouse. She drags him out of the dentist's chair at the early morning hour and leaving the tooth behind hurries him home. "If a fat woman comes here chase her until she evaporates," Bridge orders his son. Mrs. Bridge's second cousin, somewhat fat, arrives for a visit and "Rats" promptly locks her in an ash pit. But all's swell that ends swell and Bridge gets rid of his aching tooth, his affinity and his other troubles.
