Golden Globe nominee for best supporting actor, Alan Cumming shows a complete different side here as he finally finds love and is willing to bring politics and campaigns to a back burner. His confession to Alicia regarding Will Gardner at the end of the episode is shocking and Alicia responds forcefully.

This episode marked one of the best performances I have seen in a while from Julianne Margulies, as Alicia. Cunning, bright in court and emotionally drained, she is at the top of her game here.

How Diane and Cary turn the tables on the rebellious associates was fascinating in itself to watch. Supposedly, these bright guys fell for Cary's trick hook, line and sinker and pay for it dearly.

It is amazing to see how professional writers are at a loss to decide what to do with the characters of their show. For Alicia there is the excuse of "the new Alicia", one who drifts away more or less (rather less than more) peacefully between cases that are less and less interesting and chiseled. Diane and Cary Agos are there but they are stuck most of the time in this not very interesting problem of defending conservative causes against their own convictions. Peter is a no show most of the time. We are shown new characters like the investigator just to realize that there is no planning ahead as of where the plot will take them. And then there is Eli... my heart goes to him as his character has been so battered during this season that there is almost nothing left of him. He didn't win a new side of him, he lost everything that made him Eli. Do the producers and the writers really want to drive Alan Cumming away from the show? It certainly looks that way. For my part I don't know how much I can watch of this debacle.
